Lol, what do you think the plan for this site is? I will have it ranked #1 for "real estate" within 6 months and should hopefully see the search traffic pick up at steady pace as it already has.

I personally dont think the partner thing works as everyone always has their best interest in mind. "But SEO Guy You do this for free" this is true, but I do it because I want to service the real estate market with custom designs and SEO and I created this place not just to help you guys learn SEO, but to help me learn real estate. I figured the more I know about your market, conversion, lead generation etc the more my services would be worth to realtors, thus I make more per contract and have happier clients.

I love the idea of community, I really do. But I also know its really hard to be altruistic in a revenue generating market.

Default SEO Guy ... are you learning anything about RE?

OK, so you are only altruistic to a point. I'm happy to have forum where I can drop in, read, lurk and learn. I am also very timid to "share" my secrets because I note that 20 times more people are reading this stuff than contributing.

Having an authority site is a great idea and one that would not only be appealing to the search engines but the public as well. Most people are searching for information about areas, neighborhoods, schools and other pertinent info as to where they should spend their lives.

They have questions like: what's the worse thing about living here; earthquakes? snow? ice? tornadoes? Sure these are questions that no one wants to dwell on, but potential buyers want to know the facts. So why not give it to them?

Today I had a nice little old lady call me from Sun City West. It appears that she has awful allergies and she wants to know if the high plains of Colorado would suit her better. Heck I don't know, but I bet somewhere on the web is a resource for the best place to live for allergy #1, #2 etc.

Most people coming to Denver are worried about something, usually it's about "fitting in". Either they are young or old and want to be with others like themselves. Or they are of particular religion and have an adopted child from a foreign country and they are scared to move to an "unaccepting place." It's important to deliver information to them that will calm their fears and make them believe "everything is going to be all right!"

Building a website to address all these things and more would be an absolute "hit" with the public. Of course getting it positioned to be found would be easy for you, and developing content that is universally appealing to the public is really what this whole www thing is about.

If you want to know about real estate, I'm happy to share my experience with you. I know real estate, I've been practicing it for 20 years (hopefully soon I'll get it right!)

I agree it looks like at most 50/50 50% are actually realtors and the other 50% try to sell services and there is nothing wrong with that but I guess it would easier to share info among realtors in a more private setting.

Why share info when a good % of the people want to do some kind of lead generation service to charge realtors? I am paranoid anyway I never have links to my good stuff on a public board and I make sure that all my new stuff isn't linked to my old stuff and finally that all my personal info phone numbers, names, and address is in a gif or jpg format.

I am thinking about making a site maybe realtywebmasters.com and go to the extent of verifying they have a license to join. Get some password protection going etc. But Thinking about it.. how many true realtors/webmasters are there? One million realtors maybe One thousand good real estate webmasters? So maybe have a board is a waste of time unless you have something to sell dunno?!?

Won't be until after summer though. I am busy having a million dollar month. Only in sales, I wish it was one milllllion commission Next Year

There are no secrets and you were never here..

Ahhh!! Will you guys stop looking at your bellybuttons!! (Spanish saying, but you get the point)

This site that I am talking about, the idea, is to build a site focussed on BUYERS!! Not on real-estate agents. No targeting of keywords, no community building, just an authority site.

I'm wondering if you guys get the idea of authority site.

Lots of good content that can be found with a myraid of phrases, stuff you wouldn't even have thought of, because you arent the searcher. Stuff the user finds interesting, in this case the user being a buyer. Stuff people will have no problem linking to, because it is a resource.

Kkraft, You're getting it, that's what I am talking about. People, read his post!

This is common for every board and I know it better than anyone. I look at it like this; I have different levels of personal trade secrets. For instance I have my level 1 secrets, and then my level 2, 3, 4 secrets. I just release only levels 2, 3, and 4. I like to contribute and have already given allot of ideas, content and secrets on this board already. You just have to pay attention. I want my post to be quality posts, not a one liner.

I know that everyone here is my competition and I do not care. I also know that allot of people read these boards and take ideas from everyone else, maybe one idea here and implement 2 secrets there, but how many will actually do all of them? They are to lazy! Anyways I like to promote good business.

Yes I understand what an authority site is. It is an authority on that topic.

    Example Topic: Electronic Widget

    about this widget
    history of this widget
    maker's of this widget
    articles on this widget
    discussion on this widget
    where to buy these widget's
    distributors of this widget
    consumer issues on this widget
    schematics of this widget

in other words, an authority site.

    here is an article on it;

    Creating a Google Authority Site

    ------------ end Dan's authority definition ------------

I will try to help if I can, but I am really busy. I might be able to contribute in some way.

There are so many angles on this thread, I'm not sure which way to go...

How many real estate webmasters are there? Probably lots. How many realtor seo's are there? Much less.

It has been my experience when sharing SEO hints with Realtor types, they politely look at me as though I have a third eye in my forehead and horns! Then go proceed to ignore my pearls of wisdom and do a very sucky website that hasn't a snowball chance in hell to rank. So, I'm not going to die on that hill anymore.

Next thought: Having a collection of both Realtor/Web designers and Real/Web designers on the same forum is awesome. The two can blend into a symbionic relationship and learn from each other. It always amazes me now we are insular to our own needs and assume every else is the same. If we work together we can learn about each others needs and knowledge will grow.

In my own experience, I built my site many years ago. I had no clue as to what to put on it, so it grew without a plan. It was a good site but lacked character. Last year I HIRED a professional to do the graphical interface and I added the content. Since then my price point on leads has improved (and thus my income).

Bottom line: the site never would have made that leap without the help of a Real/Professional.
