Blog comments don't seem to carry any PR. Any thoughts on whether or not PR is passed by the blog rather than the comment?

Sam - more importantly you will get some juice back to your site if your contributing to other blogs out there. I usually visit about 5-10 specific blogs where I enjoy reading their posts. When I feel like making a comment, I will do so and place my own blog link in the provided area. I know they point back because I can see the incoming link when I open my word press dashboard. It's probably not much juice, but I don't really worry about it...my blog gets plenty of traffic.![]()

Bham-can you share with us what specific blogs you are talking about? Also, is this link usually in the comment section?
Hi Doogers - Well a couple of the blogs that I support are RainCityGuide, PhoenixRealEsateGuy, BoiseBlog, CarolsWenatchee, and few others. I do read some national ones as well as Pacific Northwest ones.
Yes - I'm referring to the link in the comment section. To post a comment you normally leave your name, email, url, and comment. Hope this helps.

because some are considered spam.
good content in your blog can only assist with building exposure and online presence. commenting on other blogs continuously with sole purpose of securing backlinks to your site or blog can be considered spammy, in fact I think ryan has thread on this with complaints on too many spam comments on blog, if you are supporting local bloggers with good feedback, challenging debates, or some type of intellectual conversation as opposed to irrelevant one liners then I don't see any issues

DFW...Look, doogers asked the question...and I gave him a transparent answer. If you were to goto just the four blogs that I mentioned...and researched how many times I personally have left a message...you would find maybe five at Jay Thompson's, five at RainCityGuide and two at the others I mentioned. I have been reading Jays & RainCityGuide for a year and half and the other two for a year. I wouldn't call that spammy. Now if I had left 100 one liners...then you could say that.
I've never been short for words...trust me. But I do agree that leaving one liners to build links is spammy. I'm sure that none of your 557 contributions here, have ever been one liners...right? And I'm sure your not one that leaves 5-10 posts a day in the welcome line with..."Welcome to the forums". That last example...in my book...is spammy! I think I've got two welcome posts out of 120 so far. Heck, the first two years that I was a member here from 12/05 to 12/07 I think I had three posts. Now that I have an REW site...I contribute here instead of over at P2. I hope that answers your observation...![]()

Jerry, by the quote and long response I think you may have misconstrued my comment as a personal attack, if I was personally attacking you then I would have quoted your comment as you did mineI was just generalizing the fact that some parties take blogging to a spammy level with sole purpose of building there backlinks. I do agree there are many in here that use forum to build there links with their warm welcomes as well as hijacking 3 month old threads to give their one line opinion of a 4 page thread conversation.

DFW - Yes, I did take it that wrongly. but I certainly appreciate your response and kindness. I'm glad we both agree that those who overly misuse the welcome line should be frowned on. Anytime I see black hat or even grey area SEO tactics or tricks...it really turns my stomach. You would be amazed at how much spam attempts are made daily on my Northwest Living blog. I'll tell you one thing, as your blog grows and becomes more popular, expect the spam to increase by huge numbers. Anyways, thanks again.![]()

no problem, I cannot stand those types of SEO tactics as well, unfortunately many do not share the same beliefs, those are the individuals that usually get sandboxed down the road. I do occasionally welcome a new rew member, but try to enguage them with some type of conversation or offer some type of assistance to their specific need
