    Not only that text is a text BUT it even magnify the importance of that text. Exactly as bold/italic/underline or when you use H1... tags, it provide more importance to that text since you gave it more attention in your page by making it linked to another reference in the web (which is the power of the web). Synergism.

    An outbound link provides your page value (assuming that it is relevant) from the destination, it is not just that the destination get credited.

    I have had my site show up for the keyword that linking to another site. I didi not belong in that market but my site was stronger than the others there so it picked up on that word and placed in the results for that word. I had to take it down to get to stop.
