Default Advertising Open Houses on my website or blog

    Hello everybody,
I'm wondering if any of you have done that or are currently doing it. From my MLS, I can get a list of all Open Houses in my area for the current week. Am I permitted to post this information on my website or a blog? I would keep the name of the listing brokerage and all legal information, I'm just not sure if it's legal to advertise open houses. If I can display active listings on my website, I thought I would be allowed to display open houses on my website as well.

Also, if it was you, would you create a separate page every week on your website or would you create a blog post every week and link to it from your site?

    I appreciate any feedback.

    Regards

I do this now...and I use a blog format. I post once every week or two

I don't really see the point in putting a "open house list" on your site. The visitors are already on your site, why would you want them to go meet other agents at Open Houses? It sounds like a good way to loose buyers to me.

I do however advertise my own Open Houses on my site.

Sounds like a decent idea, but I'd worry about the open house roster changing and sending a prospect to an open house that was canceled. As for is it allowed, you should check your MLS agreement.

I think it is a great idea. This is web 2.0 stuff. If you don't provide it, then they will find it somewhere else.

Strongly recommend that you add fresh content to your blog(s) as often as possible. even if it's only a paragraph or two. Ours is insane. We post about 3-4 web pages of fresh content DAILY. We are also on track to get 7,000 visitors this month. It is a ton of effort, but well worth it.

    rvolk,

i think its a good idea, because if you don't have any properties you can always use others properties until you build up your clientele. the best way to do it i think, is to contact other agents first and see if they would be willing to pay you a referral fee for each buyer that comes through your marketing.

however, i wouldn't post the address of the properties so people will contact you about the houses they are interested in, so you can send over the info to the other agent and get them to sign a referral fee.

you have the right idea, since the web is for ultimate networking, sight unseen.

Thank you all for feedback. I did check with my MLS and they said that I'm not allowed to post Open House information on my website or my blog. Oh well, I just thought it would be a good idea to keep the blog/site updated on regular basis.
