Default Need Help Choosing a Domain Name

    I need a little help.

I am starting a new consumer website directed towards owner occupants.

I own quite a few domain names. You know how it goes there are very few "good " domains available for a resonable cost when it comes to real estate.

The two names I am trying to decide on are

    DavisCompany.com

    or

    AustinMetroRealEstate.com

I have been exposed to two different schools of thought:

    1. when users see google search results-- they are more likely to click on a name that is specific to the terms they are searching for.

That is why AustinRealEstate.com is available for rent for 2200.00 a month.
( Dont worry-- I know its not worth that kind of money

    2. The other school of thought is that The name should be something that reinforces the brand. And not easily mistook for another name. In this case -- DavisCompany.com would be the best name.

If you guys could chime in on this I would appreciate it.

Davis Company seems simple enough...I think the other one is too long, but if you can shorten it a little, it may work!

I like DavisCompany.com but it seems like it's already being used.

I don't think most people searching on Google pay any attention to the dmain name in the page URL, they are looking at the blurb about the page. We have PrestRealty.com as our main page. We also have PaysonAZHomesforSale.com just so we could sepaprate the sales page from the rentals page (with them both linked up, of course). My philosophy is "make it easy for people to remember". I tell people to go to our web site PrestRealty.com and they almost always say- that's easy. Works for me.

The shorter the better, easier for somebody to remember. Also, start building your "brand" from day 1.

Agreed. I don't think Austin Metro Real Estate is a commonly searched term so having that in your URL may not be hugely valuable. The Davis URL seems good since there are two Davis' in the company.

Dena - In your case I think it all comes down to "Branding"...go with namecompany before someone else grabs it.

I would lean toward making your domain name as close to the key word that you are trying to target as possible.

For example, in Tallahassee Florida, the most searched real estate key word phrase is Tallahassee Real estate. Therefore, the best domain, SEO speaking, may be tallahasseerealestate.com. Like your example, this is taken - and very expensive.

In your case, I would pick one like austinowners.com or something like that.

Thanks all for your advice. I am now the proud owner of DavisCompany.com.

Had to pay 1500.00 for it. But I think I will be glad I did.
