Just got nailed with a -30 . . . help REW

One of the pages you guys (REW) wrote for me about 3 years ago just drop 30 spots. We were top 10 for the last two years and almost over night got kicked down to the fourth page.

I made one small change on the page simply linking some relevant text to a blog I wrote. Could that be it? Other than that, it was untouched since you wrote it.

Can someone take a look?

Can a single page get a -30?
I don't see any obvious problems with the page, though I see things I'd update to 2008 standards, like toning down the kw usage and make the title more readable.

Ah, seems it's your home page which ranks so poorly for the term, and that Google has chosen to ditch its cache of your internal page.

Perhaps they've decided to keep less of your pages cached? Not sure why they'd do that. Maybe you should get Morgan to look into things.

Thanks Gerry. I am sure I will hear from Morgan shortly. I don't know if a single page can get a -30 or not, it just semed that way because it dropped exactly 30 spots basically over night.

Honestly Lou, we don't do any on page SEO for this site at all that I know of at this point - nor are these kinds of penalties (If in fact you have one) the kind of thing you would get for simply having to many instances of a kw on the page - generally they are indicative of more sinister linking behaviors or deceptive practices - due to not being all that familiar with what you do for your site on a day to day basis on the SEO front, it's impossible to give you a quick answer - you could certainly have the big boss approve a few hours of my consulting time to look into it for you, but I can't guarantee the issue will be all that easy to find - I would need a detailed report from you with regards to everything you have done from an SEO perspective (I am like you're lawyer, it's in your best interest not to hide anything

I understand what you are saying Morgan. We don't have you guys doing any on -site seo, I just thought since you guys wrote the page initially, you would have a quick idea about what happened.

I'll get a few hours approved so you can look into this as well as provide you with a detailed report. Most of what I have been doing is following your white paper on the blogalytics strategy using AR for the blog (so I don't gum yours up). I also write a new page on the website for every term I target with content different from the blog.

I'll see what I can do from this end, thanks for looking into it.

PS I still have a couple of "Quote Requests" hanging out there and Aaron seems to think you are my sales rep. Is that the case?

I'm #1 for Ulster County Property Sales, but not Ulster Property Sales. The traffic is not as qualified, but has more volume going through the term.

Ulster is also a place in Ireland, so we share volume with them.

I do not think you have a -30 penalty if this is the case, -30 penalty generally applies to everything meaning even the most obscure search phrase such as nutshellrealty would return you 30 spots further down than normal.
