    That's a wide brush stroke - help with Marketlinx'. What market are you working in and what specifically do you need?

    Middle Tennessee, but mostly just "Clarksville". I"m looking for a couple of searches.

    1. By price (up to 80,000 ; 80-100,000 ; 100-120,000 and so forth)
    2. By subdivison and or street name (see all listings for "XXX")
    3. Simple, bedroom, bath, sq.ft.,
    4. By zip code

    I think that is it. One thing I'm not sure how to do, is the "internet listing" field. It must be a "Y" to put it on my site. I'm just not sure, if i have to code it or just using RETS in the admin screens to narrow down my search. I sort of have my subdivison working, because that is easy, I just can't block the "Active, Pending, Closed, Experied". I"m sure it's just a matter of putting "listing = active"and the Internet Listing.

    Hello all. I would like to know what the difference between MLS and IDX is. I called my local association of realtors and they did very little for me. I have a feeling I was wasting their time. I see a ton of ads for IDX and the realtor that I am doing a site for is getting emails all the time yet I am having trouble seeing what the big deal is. We are able to place the MLS on her site without IDX yet the person I called today made it sound like that wasn't possible and that's what IDX was for. Other than that, I don't see any difference between the two. If you could help me as to what the specific differences are and if it is any more than a marketing version of MLS I would greatly appreciate it. Like I said, the way it is getting pushed has lead me to believe that there is something more to it. Thanks.

    MLS = multiple listings service as I am sure you know, this is provided by your local board and accesible to all members of said board.

    IDX = Internet Data Exchange - This is typically referred to as the technology that allows the MLS information to be viewed on the web. Some MLS boards give you access to their IDX (You can link to it, or iframe it on your site) Others only make the raw data available in CSV, XML or similar cryptic files - in this case you must create a custom IDX to parse the data into a presentable form, or rent an IDX solution from a third party that has already created a solution to interpret the data.

    I may be generalizing and missing some of the scope, but this is pretty much the gist of it.

    MLS = the data
    IDX = how you view it.

    if you use mlsfinder, and would like your cities to be featured on rentalcashflow.com with you as the contact person, please contact me.

    Example: http://www.rentalcashflow.com/Pages/...ple-valley.asp

    side note: I am from MN, and will only accept other minnesotans marketing northern or southern MN, not the twin cities metro area.
