Default Drip campaigns for Leads Referred out

Here is the question. Do you think it to be inappropriate for someone that refers out a lead to leave that lead on their drip campaign. I have refered out hundreds of leads and am still working thru the logistics of the whole process, but I have no gut feel as to if the agents have anything in place to maintain these leads. To fill the gap, I have them setup automatically on a drip campaign as they register. What I have noticed is that some of these leads have gone else where because the agents referred to did not respond fast enough...I would prefer to not lose them and hand them back to the agent if need be

Hey there, guy with the not so obvious good hari....I have often wondered about the same thing. Its a tough call. You are right...when you refer it out, there is a cut and the agent will give it less priority. They most likely do not have a drip campaign. Speaking and typing outloud, I say keep it going. The hardest thing to me is tracking all this stuff.!!

I think it is better to keep up with them via a drip campaign and deal with those few agents that get offended than lose your hard earned leads. I think it might be wise to let the agent know that you will be keeping the principal on your drip campaign. If they bach just tell them it is a requirement that they be ok with it if they are to recieve leads from you.

I put everyone I refer out on a drip. Most of the time the agent taking the referral calls and email and never hears back. Then weeks or months later I get a response from the drip. The worst thing that can happen is for someone to unsubscribe and few people do that from what I have experienceed.

When I refer out I do so with the stipulation that I will continue to follow up with the prospect until a deal is closed or they disappear from the planet. I also let the agent know that if they don't follow up effectively I will take back over.

The problem I find when referring out is that in some cases other agents are only interested in a quick hit when the take a referral. If it does not pan out quickly they move on and the lead dries up.

I also typically only refer in my network of trusted agents, but even those can let leads slip by. To combat that I add every referral to a special section of my database and follow up on it like I would any lead. First, I check in with the agent to see how they are doing and then with the prospect. When I refer out I always make contact with the prospect first to validate their info and also make sure they know my name. This way I know the lead is legit and the prospect knows my name and is not thrown off when I call them later on to check in.

Many cases other agents lose interest in referred leads if they don't lead to a contract in 30 - 45 days so when that happens I just take over contacting them as if they were never referred out. I also let the agent know this and so far to date I have not had a problem doing this.

P.S. In cases where I referred out because I was not able to meet the prospects needs or we were not able to establish a healthy business relationship I typically don't worry much about those.
