Well, we finally have the dates confirmed for the REW conference! It will be held September 16 & 17 at the new Vancouver Island Conference Centre here in Nanaimo. We have not yet finalized pricing but should have this done soon. Planning is well under way to make this event a great success.

I am not sure about bass fishing, you might want to ask at outdoors forum at Nanaimo Information http://www.nanaimoinformation.com/fo...isplay.php?f=6

I do know we are world renown for our saltwater fishing (Salmon and such)

Salmon fishing not bass fishing is what you might want to do.
If you are looking for San Diego Real Estate or you want to view San Diego MLS listings (or at least that portion of the data feed that SANDICOR allows us to display on our websites) go to a local San Diego County real estate Agent's Site.

With the REW customer Summit scheduled for Sept 16 & 17 I would be looking at doing some Salmon fishing near the mouth of some of the local rivers or in the river at that time of year. Silver Salmon are usually heading towards the rivers about that time of year. I've been fishing salmon all my life just 100 miles south in the Puget Sound area of Washington State.

My advice would be to just Google "Nanaimo, BC salmon fishing" and study what is running at that time of year. Your best bet would be to find a local charter boat and fish the day after the summit so you can bring home what ever your catch. If I were to put in order of my preference on salmon it would be Sockeye (Red Salmon) first followed by Kings (Chinook, Tyee), Silvers (Coho), Pinks (humpie), and then Chum (Dogs)...except I won't eat Chums. Lower BC has one of the best runs for Sockeye in the world that migrate to the Fraser River every year. If your going to buy canned salmon while your hear...go with Sockeye, King, or Silvers...not Pinks...lol..trust me! Make sure you read the label when you buy it. Best place to buy canned or smoked salmon would be a local cannery or fish processing company. Worst place would be the airport or gift stores... Good luck.

Jerry's list didn't mention what we call "spring" salmon, which is good and juicy.
    *researches*
Ahh, that's chinook. Okay. Yes indeed.

My own list would be similar:

    sockeye
    spring / chinook
    coho (actually tied for second)
    pink
farmed Atlantic salmon (ethical debates aside, I simply don't like the product's texture)

(I don't know chum, so I don't know where to put it)

I used to work in a seafood market, so it was with heaps of qualification that I wrote up a page on the Nanaimo website about buying seafood.

Yeah, our local cannery is called St Jeans and it always has great canned sockeye. They also put out a wonderful smoked tuna - so creamy - yummmm.
