Default MSN Raises its Offer for Yahoo

Just saw this article on the yahoo site speaking of Microsoft upping the bid for Yahoo.

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080502/...icrosoft_yahoo

Looks like it may happen or is getting closer for Microsoft to actually combine. Maybe if this happens, the Yahoo sites will disappear in the google SERPs (just a thought)

My theory is that Microsoft walks, the stock price dives again and then Microsoft comes in for another round and swoops up Yahoo for a song.

    Interesting topic!

I own a few shares of each and believe this deal is still going to happen. Microsoft needs Yahoo to compete with Google. There are really not any comparable properties out there to be had and Microsoft must know that to come in with such a high offer in the beginning. I bet MSFT comes back and the deal gets done around $34 - $35 a share.

Yeah I heard some talk that yahoo was bluffing to get a higher price. It will be interesting if yahoo gets bought if they come out with a new search product or if msn power yahoo or vice versa.

It's going to be hard for Yahoo to compete with Google, even if the transaction takes place. I believe it will happen, and it will be interesting to see what happens to Yahoo in the months after the deal.

I think the smart move would be for Microsoft to find a better way to spend their billions. It doesn't seem likely to me that they would achieve much success with Yahoo... there's already too much diversification at Yahoo and a lack of clear direction... which is the same problem that Microsoft faces.

This deal will happen at some point. As far as I am concerned the sooner the better.
