Default Blog On Your Home Page or Static Page?

I have noticed that some Real Estate websites have their blog on the home page as well as behind some static page. I was wondering if this is a well thought out SEO tactic to make your website much stronger? I'm thinking because of the fresh content being added to the homepage in the form of a blog, this gives a better page rank and better rank in the SE's in general because it looks like the home page has fresh content being added to consistently rather than just a static page deep in the site. Any thoughts?

I think this is true since the page is constantly being updated. However, I haven't found an easy way to make our blog come up easily on the front page. The only one I can find is the google gadget, but since it's javascript, I doubt the crawlers/spiders could read or even see them.

You could include any/all of the content with an includes file or your rss feed.

I have wondered about this a lot. A blog on the same URL, a blog on a separate URL...which is the most effective blog!?

We just launched a blog on our url as a way to keep adding fresh content to the site. I will be watching our placement in the search engines and see if adding the blog will make any difference.

That's an interesting idea. Let us know how it works out, because I know that's something I would consider doing to my static website.
