    Default Double opt-in

I get my share of bogus registrations, I simply just ignore them. However, looking into the future, I may not be as tolerant. One way of combating this in my opinion is double opt-in. A client registers and is sent an email to confirm their account.

I am sure this would cut off bogus registrations and quality of leads would go up, while number of leads would go down. Some believe a lead is lead is a lead is a lead.......

Has any REW client tried this? A question to REW staff: How much to implement something like this?

I am not saying this is easily done nor I am providing any information about how to achieve this opt-in arrangement. Think about this perspective:

If you are going to decrease your tolerance in an attempt to increase lead quality (effectively rejecting more leads), why not have two groups of leads: the first being the double opt-in (DOI) group and the second the less stringent opt-in (SOI) group that did not validate their account.

You could handle the DOIs as priority leads and then the SOIs as resources permitted. This would also create an interesting data set that would allow for all sorts of correlation... like conversion rate (to customer/client) for the two groups. Not "great" science by any stretch of the imagination, but potentially a valuable exercise nonetheless.

The best way to eliminate the bogus leads is to not require the opt in. Let them search without opting in. The results will be better than making them jump through hoops to search. The quality of leads will go up.

I agree with bigtoe. Given that much of the information on the standard agents site can be obtained elsewhere, why force the issue? Let them browse the listing. If you are presenting the properly, they will contact you on thier own.
