I definitely have a love/hate relationship with the real estate web design business. The whole issue about mls data is obfuscation to the extreme! What a pain in the rear if you are a designer that gets an agent as a new client! It's almost not worth the effort and much easier to simply direct them to a local design company.
Anyways, thats my rant... done..
OK, down to business. I have an agent that was previously with KW but is now with Amex. She want's a custom designed web site that includes:
- blog
- search
- her own listings
- educational materials
- newsletters
- subscriber lists
- rich video and media
- video walkthroughs
Most of the items above I can deal with but when it comes to getting MLS data, I seem to hit a brick wall. I know there is rebgv.org which provides reciprocity. I know I can show content as either a framed page or an external link and customize the header and footer. But to me, that simply isn't good enough. Is there an API I can query in real time? Does this exist for the Vancouver real estate board?
Any pointers would be graciously accepted
Thanks!
