    Default keyword spamming

I have a general question regarding the prevelance of keyword spamming. Does everyone in the world do it other than the people in this forum?

Check this out. The number 1 and number 7 results are using hidden text that is repeating keywords

How can we compete? I know that G and Y catch these things for the most part, but I still have to wait 6 months for I get indexed on those, so MSN is all I have to drive natural search engine traffic until then. I don't want to disappoint our team.

You could consider reporting the hidded text as SPAM to the engines?

I do turn them in to MSN using the link at the bottom, but nothing ever happens. Frustrating.

Have had the same results (none) with turning in abuses. Software generated pages, hidden text, duplicate content, stolen content, ... None have reacted to any of the problems that I have reported.

Anyone had any success getting your page ranked above these type of sites? Does it help to only put 5 keywords in your meta tags in order to be ranked higher for those 5 key words for that specific page? I have been reading where some are recommending that you should only target 5 KW phrases per page and that your meta tags should also be limited to no more than 10 per page. Is this right?

My outlook on your last Q is yes. Less is more, that's my opinion.

Think of it this way... Each word weighs a certain amount in the total title. Eight words are worth only 12.5% total weight each, not bad. So, 12.5% of your title's weight is given to that one word. Good luck placing well for one of those words once you get into 12-15+ words titles.

The title on my site is exactly seven words long with one word repeated once, so there are six original words.

If your Meta title was: Nashville Real Estate and your page was truely about that. I would expect you to rank well for that term as long as the rest of your site is in order (on and off page SEO).

If your Meta title was: Nashville Real Estate, Nashville Realtor, Nashville Condos, Nashville MLS, Bob Realtor-Name I wouldn't expect you to place as well as you would chasing one or two phrases.

All of this is only my opinion.

Also, try to remember that you have more than one page in your site. Use interior pages to target specific areas. IE, Home Page, focus on the major city nearest you that you serve. Interior page 1, focus on the city your office is in. Interior page 2 focus on the next nearest city you serve, and so on.

Yes! But my site is a few years old, not brand new.

There is one site that is constantly one place above or below me, then just dissappears for a week or so, and then is back. Tlak about KW spamming! PM me if you want to see for yourself. I'm not going to slam anyone in a public forum. The site is a joke and I am so glad to have it as competition to mine! Honestly! People check that site and then mine and suddenly I have a new client! I love it. I hope they never catch on and I hope they never change their site.

LOL. Same for us. They check out the other sites available and come back to us. There was a guy here that had six or seven sites interlinked, using every dirty trick in the book. Took over a year before they were all dropped...... Keep reporting them, maybe someone will wake up and clean up the index....

Honestly, you will drive yourself nuts worrying about the competition and their dirty little tricks. Best thing to do is focus on your own sites and plug it away. At least YOU don't have to live your life looking over your shoulder and wonder when you're going to be banned
