Funny, I don't even check my own webstats for visitors, so where anyone gets the time to check on competitors is beyond me.
The only ones I see are the ones ranked around me. Either ahead of me by a spot or two, or behind me by a spot or two. The rest are below the fold, so who has time to scroll...

you always have to keep an eye on your competition! Not to worry, but to see what they are up to, and what seems to be working for them. If I hadn't been watching I would not have found this site. Morgan is working with a gentleman in my area that is on the top of A FREAKING LOT of search terms. I wanted to see what he was doing and ended up here. Im not saying worry about everyone, but if someone is where you want to be, at least take a peak.
I'm sick of the keyword spamming!!!!
I decided to spend the afternoon writing a blog about the topic. Hopefully by empowering enough people we can weed out the unethical designers in our ranks.

Let's get their sites banned!!!
What I would have a problem with however, is that some of those web site owners are not fully aware of what is being done here. They may have hired a web development company and a content writer who decided to do this. I don't think banning should be done unless it is really hardcore so that it is obvious that the web site owner must have been told why it is being done (if common sense defies any alternate explanation or excuse).
However it is important that search engines stop honoring those tactics. From what I've been told numerous times, msn is working on improvement and I don't think Google is really falling for for keyword spam (it may help a little but only if the site has a lot of other factors benefitting it).
Raising awareness is definitely important. But remember:
Search engines care less about who your competitors are as long as they provide satisfying results to their web surfers.
I am saying this because there have been discussions on various blogs and forums where employees of the major search engines were involved. One thing that killed the discussions was that people complained individually about their competitor's tactics.
Those comments were not the feedback that the representatives of those search engines were looking for and some of the discussions were ended abruptly (by the administration) or the search engineneers simply bowed out for the lack of quality feedback.
If you want to help make changes, your blog may be a great start, but let's not turn this into a vendetta. Otherwise we may all look like @$$h0le$ who have only one objective and that is to outrank one another.
