Default real estate agent question showing having listing agent show for my client

I have a client looking for a rental 1hr away from my office, can I have her call the listing agent and have them show the rental and if she likes it I can then work with her? Its weird because its like I am not doing my job, but the listing agent is getting paid anyway and it is that persons listing.. I was just wondering about this.
    Sincerely,

You can have them call the listing agent, but be prepared to also have them handle the paperwork, all the follow up work and cashing the commission check.

To be totally serious I would only do that if you know 100% that you will receive your share of the commission, because there is a fine line between being the procuring cause of the sale and someone who referred a client whom that could not assist to another agent.

You've already answered your own question. If you are not willing to drive that far, why not just refer your client out to an agent that can show them the homes and represent them.

That way you stand a better chance of collecting a portion of comission, and your client get's local representation and service. It's a win win.

By asking the LA to show your client homes, you stand a pretty good chance of having your client plucked away from you by a local agent and then you get zero.

If you feel that way - then I'm certain that your real estate commission would feel that way as well if you got into a procuring cause issue.

    Do the job.

    Or refer it.

This guy can not be serious. Just goes to more proof that we have lots of lazy agents left to weed out. I wish it would happen faster.
