New Search Engine Reported on the News

Apparantly, some ex-employees from G have started a new search engine called cuil.com. I tried it and it is being overloaded from the news coverage. Wasn't impressed, but it had already indexed my site.

they are already calling it the biggest search engine on the web, ranks based on relevance and content as opposed to popularity. amazing what a husband and wife can do when they team up...

still no threat to google, servers crashed around 3:00 today with debut...not a good start but expected

Just a personal observation:

Horrible choice for a domain name. "Cuil" doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.

I like my rankings on this site, but I don't see this as much of a threat to Google. IMO, poor name choice and the search is a little sketchy.

Example: No results for "Siesta Key real estate"

Heh, yea - they should have gone for something more marketable - and less of a play on words IMO.


I mean seriously: what does "ebay" have to do with "online auction"? nothing. But its easy to remember/say/spell.

I check these guys out and they seem to have an excellent educational resume, IE PHD from Standford. I did a SEO on my web and their layout isn't bad....

It's one of those obvious quotes, cuil (cool). I pronounce it cool dot com. One thing I have learned is big potiential starts in small thoughts. Try an SEO on your real estate area and see if you come on a page. The layout isn't bad though......
