Default One Writer or Multiple Writers Debate

I have noticed some of the most successful blogs like bloodhound for example have multiple writers on their blog. I see the benefits to having multiple writers could possibly be...
*Easier to get fresh content from multiple people than just one person each day
*More of a following because you have the following of 10 writers rather than just one, along with a few other reasons

So my question is, do you think it is much easier to get your blog to be ranked much higher by having more of a blogroll with multiple writers, than just you being the only author?

Depends on the quality of the writer(s) honestly - you can have one great writer develop a hell of a lot more back links (Due to editorial links and respect) than 100 writers who are just churning out content because they think volume is important.

Will 10 great writers generate a higher volume of links? Probably, but how hard is it to organize 10 great writers, and will it generate 10 times the links of a single writer on a single blog? Things that make you go hmm

I know as a reader of blogs that I like the ones with more than one writer the best.

Then you have to think about what happens when your competition in your area wants to join your blogroll and starts turning out better blogs and information than you. The clients you have fought so hard for may actually start to find their site, all because you put them on center stage.

I just use the remark guest contribution.
Usually they are the result of a lunch with a lawyer etc and they follow up with a short letter of the discussion.
Good for them to get some recognition, Great for me to get fresh content!

    I use both...

For agent facing blogs where volume is the key and fresh content all the time is an issue and customers are not...sometimes I like MULTIPLE authors...

But for MY niche (in my case EricOnSearch), I write it myself for the EXACT reasons Morgan stated. One writer with a specific agenda is often very effective and the force multiplier effect of more authors is not usually anywhere near one to one.

BTW- I do like using guest authors and interviews...that can be effective when done correctly.

Why not just invite non-competitive guest bloggers to participate who can add value and also help round out the information found on your site? For instance, if you are a Realtor, have a Stager as a guest blogger, a mortgage broker or brokers as a guest blogger, etc.
