    Question Article writing

I've submitted articles to article directories before and I didn't notice any great difference to the number of back links we got and it was very time consuming. I've read that you should only submit to one article directory rather than submitting the same article to different directories. Has anyone any advice? Thx.

Submitting to one directory only to avoid duplicate content will not do the job, someone will still get a copy of your article and post it as their own, spread the link having different sources is better than one.

it is a matter of quality over quantity,, it is much better to submit to 15-20 relevant sites and consume your remaining time writing a unique/fresh article.

For some reason people always confuse article submission and duplicate content. The whole point of writing the article is to have it picked up by other sites and gain the backlink. Think about the AP. They break stories that are picked up by thousands of media outlets and websites all over the world and the content is displayed word for word with the AP getting the credit.

Duplicate content refers mainly to having pages that are coded exactly the same from code to content. This generally occurs when scammers copy your site entirely. It's true not all the sites can rank your pages at the top, but the credit for the link is still of value to your site, especially if the site is relevent to your own.

15 to 20 is still way too much for me. I would keep it down to 3 to 4 directories
and still get to see my articles listed on 1st page for the keyword of my choice six months down the road...

That's mostly due to the duplicate content: Google treats the first version of a page that they see as the original: and they ignore the other versions that they deem to be duplicates.

You cannot take an article and then distribute it to a billion sites and expect that you get a backlink from all the duplicates. That just doesn't work anymore, unfortunately.

You can still write articles and distribute them, just make sure that each one is unique and that you carefully select the site where your article is going to be placed.

It never took any of my articles 6 months to get picked up on the SERPs. A max of 2 weeks and if the keywords are repetitive throughout the articles then it takes even less time.
