The more quality and keywords within the article help you. Post them in several different areas. this will help with backlinking, and get your site noticed more. The article doesnt have to be extremelhy lenghty either just as long as the keywords and the uniquness of the content is there.

It never took any of my articles 6 months to get picked up on the SERPs. A max of 2 weeks and if the keywords are repetitive throughout the articles then it takes even less time.

My articles took me sometimes only a week to get indexed and listed. But to maintain it on the 1st page for more than six months is a challenge for some. Building more backlinks to it will do the trick.

That's mostly due to the duplicate content: Google treats the first version of a page that they see as the original: and they ignore the other versions that they deem to be duplicates.

I've also noticed that not many people are publishing articles from the article directories. So all you get is a few backlinks that aren't really worth the bother.

You are probably right. Those who have had used the articles might have just do away with the resource box of the original writer which is rather unethical. But article directories does have its benefits like fast indexing, niche traffic and at least one good backlink with a high PR on the directory itself.

They probably are removing the resource box and spinning the article.
