Why and What is a blogroll and should I?

I just received an email that someone put me on their blogroll. I presume it is a good thing considering I get a link.

Is it something I should creat on my blog?

Is there a right way and a wrong way?

Where on my blog should it be?

Should I respond by putting him on mine?

I do not know if it is white hat or black hat.

blogroll link is good especially if the site linking you has a great traffic, a dofollow and high PR. it add traffic and links to your blog

accept it,, it will bring no harm to your site, instead as what erikko has posted, it will generate more traffic to you and links,, and exposure!

Getting a link on someones blogroll is good.

As to linking back, ehh, I'm not sure. If you find the other blog interesting, has good information, or you simply like it, sure. But if the other site just added you to get you to link back to them and all they do is spam or don't have useful information, I wouldn't.

Ok makes sense. He did not ask for a back link and his blog looks strong, it like he didi it in good faith.

So now my question is; Is there a particular way that I should set this up?

Is is simply a page in my blog where I recognise other blogs with a link and maybe a description?

These may sound like dumb questions, but if there is something to it that makes it better I am eager to know.

What blogging platform do you use?

If you use Wordpress:

> Login
> Blogroll
> Add Link

If you do not have your Blogroll active:

> Login
> Presentation
> Widgets
> Drag the "Blogroll" to your sidebard
> Save Changes

I tried to go to your website but do not see a link to your blog; so, I'm not sure which blogging platform you use.

//EDIT// - I actually clicked on http://www. skyrealtyhighlandlakes.com/ and didn't see your blog and assumed all the links in your signature went to the same site. Your other website does show the blog, and I believe you are using a REW made blog? I'm not sure where the Blogroll is in that one

If someone links to me in their roll and I find their site valuable will it hurt me to link back to them?
