    This was worth pointing out agian IMO. Your agent may have put a number out there to take care of the problem, but the problem itself isn't the agents fault. It isn't the listing agents fault either as the disclosures (which don't cover carpeting in IL) are for the seller to fill out not the agent.

    $500 is more than enough to carpet an average room with inexpensive-average carpet. For the $1200 qoute you got you could put in Hardwood floors. Go to a local carpet store not HD and you will get better prices.

    If you didn't use an attorney (which I know most don't in Texas) than you just found out why it is a good idea to have one. Sorry it cost you all the headache and now some money to learn this leason.

    I would go back to your Agent and tell him since he told you it was going to cost
    only $500 to fix the problem, but actually $1200, he should make up the difference, he should have known that he was not a professional Carpet person.
