    Default Digg ethics?

Is it improper digg ethics to ask people to digg one of your pages if it's unique?

No, it's not. If it's unique. You don't need to "ask" for it, let them judge it. That's the whole point of Digg.

Right but there is very little exposure that your page gets initially

True, you just can't tell or pay people to digg it for you although this is something which is been going on since Digg launched. If you have a friend, tell him to digg it for you. There ain't nothing wrong, however, if you pay someone to do it for you, it's just against their rules.

It's unethical.. but people do it. I think it's fine as long as it's just a few people. Doing it on a mass scale might be bad.

I've seen people paying money to do it, I heard they are making automatic softwares for this now. If Google can't stop people from manipulation their search engines, it will take years for Digg to stop it.

Digg has some power users. A lot of them were recently banned but even the ones that admitted to using scripts were not. Just tell "MrBabyMan" to digg it for you and I'm sure a lot of people will jump on the bandwagon.

Theres also plenty of other things that will get you banned, like "blind digging" (i.e. digging stories without even reading/viewing the source) and scripts. Expect a lot more of this type of moderating by the folks at digg, but they have yet to deal with the whole "pay per digg" aspect as of yet...

PM me the page and I will take a look at it. Not saying I'll Digg it, but I'll give a gander and see.

Hmm, I think the answer would be yes because that kind of defeats the whole purpose of Digg. However, how many friends do we have? 5 or 10 Diggs isn't going to shoot you to the front page, that would take hundreds of Diggs, so why not just focus on great content that the *real* community will Digg anyways?
