    Default Getting Galveston Back Together

Well, I just checked on some of our agent friends website in Galveston Texas. Ryson Real Estate sellinggalveston.com

Galveston Island took a direct hit from Hurricane Ike. They have a little blog section you can read about their hurricane efforts yourselves if interested. They shoveled out 2 feet of mud from their office, but other than that their office is ok. No electric, water or sewer yet, though.

Many people aren't as fortunate. Sounds like they have good attitudes getting themselves back together and they say they will open the doors as soon as the electric is back on.

I read their blog and I would have to agree with you about their good attitudes, I can only imagine what a traumatic journey that would be, riding out and living through a hurricane

Writing about it in a blog would be somewhat cathartic and would certainly help one get through the whole experience

The pictures scare me. Rebuilding in an area like that scares me more. What are the insurance companies telling people? Can they even GET insurance for these areas now?

Insurance, some are lucky to have insurance. After Rita, many insurance companies didn't renew and didn't write any new.

Texas has an insurance pool with 2.3 Billion in it, but estimates are closer to $18 Billion damage. I guess my taxes are going up.
