Default Not Getting Indexed on AR

    Hi Guys,

I was wondering if any of you could offer me some tips on getting my posts indexed on AR.

I've had an AR blog for about a year now, though admittedly, I've been a little inconsistent about posting to it. Nevertheless, many of my previous posts were indexed relatively quickly, especially the localism posts I've done.

What I'm confused about now, though, is why Google isn't indexing my latest posts. It may have something to do with the way I'm posting them since the recent addition of "channels" on AR (still working to understand them...), or maybe that has nothing to do with it.

I'm trying to write posts of benefit to the public as opposed to posts designed to elicit realtor interest, and that means I don't always get a ton of comments. Does this affect whether my posts are getting indexed? I know of one agent in my city whose blog is indexed every day. She has been very consistent in posting to her blog for more than a year, which is great, though many of her posts, imho, don't offer much value to prospective buyers or sellers (posts like, "Why are there buzzards perched on top of this house" or "My latest shopping adventure."

Would it be better to post something -- just anything -- to get Google's attention rather than trying to post primarily items of value to prospective cients? I realize I need to post more frequently (for a variety of reasons) but I still dont understand why I'm not getting any attention from the big G on my recent posts.

Any insight you can provide would be appreciated.

On a related topic -- how would you suggest I get more visits to the blog that's incorporated into my REW website? I know when I posted to the regular REW blog that my post was indexed within a couple of days, but I'm trying to incorporate valuable blog content into my website blog. Would it be a bad idea to post a summary of my latest post to the regular REW blog with a link to my site blog for the complete post?

Again, any insight would be appreciated. I still consider myself fairly new to blogging and haven't quite figured out how to best utilize this great tool, especially the new blog that's incorporated into my site.

I was thinking the same thing about my AR blogs. For one thing, I can't even seem to find my latest posts on AR. I can usually find them in the recent posts list but I gave up looking the last couple of posts.

When I do a "site" search in Google it only brings up a couple of pages and it seems like different versions of my index page. Yet when I search for a specific blog post by title the post comes up and is cached (although they aren't indexed as quickly anymore).

I still can't find my last listing post on AR which I was hoping would appear in Localism.

I also don't know whether to utilize the so-called "outside blog" which would allow for some customization. I didn't notice any difference in the urls for outside vs. normal blog posts so I'm not sure about the difference of creating an outside blog (without pointing a personal domain name) vs. just using the same posting format.

I'm really torn about AR now. I normally "use" AR to give my sites links without appearing spammy. But do these links even count (guess I have to check my backlinks - haven't done that in a long time).

As far as your blog on your website vs. the REW blog, you're just going to have to accept the fact that you won't get many, if any, comments. You'd really have to create an outstanding blog to get lucky enough to get others to read it, let alone comment. But keep working on it as it adds content to your site and you can also introduce links into your site from it and continue working on keywords.

Next door, Lemont homes are the priciest in the southwest suburbs and have held their value, even appreciating while prices in other areas have gone down.

I just got an alert today that a post I did on AR on August 25 was just indexed....don't know why it's taking mine so long, but if any of you have any helpful hints, I'd really appreciate it.

It seems like this started happening since they switched over to the new format which has me all confused.

It's confused me as well, though as I mentioned, another agent in my area is getting indexed every day, despite having content which seems to be of little if any benefit to people looking to read about real estate. (Not all of it is trivial -- just more than half I'd say.)

Even my Localism posts aren't getting indexed right away, yet there are others here who have just been talking about getting indexed within 10 minutes! I'd really love to have some input from those who are getting indexed that quickly....

I'm not having problems getting mine posted to Localism, though. Are you, Judyo?

I think that the localism posts are now being moderated. At least that was my understanding when they made the change. I posted over there this weekend and had a google alert for my name the next day. My post went to localism right away. You would probably need to ask over there what the proceedure is.

Sharon, how are your checking to see if your posts are getting indexed? You should use google webmaster tools to check your links. If you use the link:yoursite command in google it will only give you a small percentage of your links.

Hi Carolyn -- I'm using Google alerts as my primary notification that a post has been indexed and it seems pretty accurate as far as I can tell. I have one set up for my name so I get a notification when any post has been "seen" by Google. I also search for the name of the post along with my name. Of course, I could be interpreting the Google alert results incorrectly, but I've heard of several people getting Google alerts about their posts within 10 minutes (or sometimes a few hours) of making their AR posts, so I'd like to know what I can do to get the same results.

Thanks for your help, though. I'll delve more deeply into GA and see if I'm missing something...
