Default Anyone affected by Google update?

It seems like there has been a substantial Google update in the past couple of days. I've seen some shifting of the SERPS. Has anyone seen any major changes in their rankings? Good or bad? Any new insights about what might be more important now?

It seems I have gone from the day the flux started with G from number 6 to number 4 and lets hope it keeps going up. When checking all the DCs I still dont think everything has settled down enough yet to be considered stable.

I am seeing more backlinks, increased PR, and better positions on the SERP's with G.

But will not bet the farm on it staying that way.

Yeah, I've noticed activity from googlebot in our logs. Our site is very young, so we notice good results every dance.

How hard do you think it is to stay on the top of the rankings, and what whould you recommend? More links, keywords, quality content?

    Thanks

    Wayne,

if you look at this dc, http://216.239.51.99/, you are not faring very well. Not in the index and the toolbar is gray. Jim's site is gone as well.

Yeah I just noticed..thank you...guess I need to find out what G is up to. What is the common effect here with Jim and my site. The toolbar is grey though .I still show a PR 7 but the site has been removed from the serps.

Guess we will have to look for common factors.

I am watching jim's site as well because we are in the same market. Google has really done some changing because last year at this time his site would be ranked #1 for all the keywords in the title having a pr7 and all. Makes no sense to me. But the tool bar looks pretty So I guess I am going to keep building. My highest are only 5's lots of 4's and so on...

I will do some looking around maybe have a guess next week but by then it could be something completely different

--- Good luck to you guys!

Pardon me, I do not know what G means nor SERPS. Please explain if you will.

    G is short for Google

SERPS is short for search engine results pages

At least that is my understanding.
