    Default FTP to RETS

I'm writing to follow-up to learn the estimated cost (total cost and my part of it) to convert the austin idx feed from ftp to rets, which is now required by the Austin Board of Realtors. What has this cost other rew clients when you made this type of conversion in the past? What is your estimate for us in austin? I've been waiting a few weeks for answers to these questions and haven't heard anything back so please reply at your first opportunity. Thanks for your time and feedback.

Wow-- I just got my site a couple of months ago. Is mine ftp or rets??

And what does that mean anyway? I guess this would affect me as well.

    Dena,
ABOR recently notified us that they are changing the kind of feed they provide to vendors. Right now ALL REW IDX's are on ftp feeds and it is mandatory that they switch to RETS.

The estimate will be in two parts as per REW policy.

All REW IDX customers in ABOR that would like to continue to use their IDX will be given 1 single quote for the data parsing / feed switch - the cost of this switch (hours of labor required) and then an additional (individual) estimate for any programming required to hook up any custom elements (I don't think you have any custom programming elements, mostly just design, so you would really not have much if any of an individual estimate just your share of the migration) whereas Brian (Above) has a ton of custom programmed stats and mapping snippets etc, so his individual estimate might be higher.

    A couple of example scenarios
#1: The programming team looks at the new feed and provides an estimate of 20 hours for updating and there are 4 customers that would like to continue using the REW IDX product - they split it 4 ways and it's 5 hours each.

#2 The estimate comes in at 10 hours and there are 10 of you, so split 10 ways every is just billed for a single hour.

    Make sense?

Next logical question is "how many hours will it take and how many of us are in on it" - neither of these do I have the answers for yet. I know there are at least 4 of you who are pretty much guarantees

There are several other ABOR members with IDX as well, I just have not heard from them on this issue yet, and don't know them as well as I know you 4 - but as Aaron said, we will post on this shortly.
