New main page

I working on a new main page for my site. I have it up, but have not yet replace my current main page. Please give it a quick look over, and tell me what you think. Once I get the new look down, I will change over the rest of my site.

I just glanced at it and some first reactions were (IMO) can you make the text bigger next to the homes for sale in the left side - very hard to read. Not sure if it is the correct way but I like paragraphs to have left justification rather then center on the page as you have them. I like the search box on your top left but I would suggest making it bigger or framing it somehow to stand out more.

I do like how you have centered the page rather than all the way to the left like the current main page.

I would make the home search more prominant. Also wow, interesting that you can basically divide homes into under 100K, 100-200K and over 200K. No wonder people go into sticker shock in California.

You have no idea how affordable homes are in the middle of the country! The only problem is that a whole generation has moved to the big cities where there is more opportunity. In the great "real estate" growth phase where home owners created virtual ATM machines out of their growing home equity did not happen in these places. Investors in areas like this had to invest in other areas. Sadly, the real estate bubble dominoed over to effect those too.

@Neal - do you know Phil DeWitt at DeWitt auction? They have done a few sales for me in a former life.

I know of Dewitt, but I have never met him directlly.

You are right, the center of the US did not see the double digit growth in home prices like both coast. As such, home prices here have dropped only slightly. In general you can get a fair home for 100,000 and a very nice home for $200,00.
