Default A way to cloak "View Source" info?

On some sites, one can click on "View Source" and see info about that page, Key words, tags, etc. On oher web pages, nothing is there when you click on View source.

Is there a way to cloak the "View Source" info on my site?

    Please advise.

    Thanks you

Granda can you provide a link to a page that you can't see it's source code?

I have seen sites like that as well but it is really not hard to view the source if you really want to. Usually you can just save the HTML page to your computer and then open it with notepad or a web authoring program like Dreamweaver and view anything you want.

    Question:

Why is this important to you?

    To accomplish:

disable the right click in a javascript and it will prevent the view source.

However, there are other ways to get source from pages.

Website pages = not secure! if you are trying to prevent something.

    Personally, I wouldn't bother.

Plus, when you disable right click you also disable all of the other features in the menu such as refresh, add to favorites and create shortcut.

Don't make it any harder for them to bookmark your site.

    Just to clarify...

These features are still available from the menu bar which is not affected by rt clicking. Only rt clk features would be disabled. However you can also make the menu bar disabled.

In additon: you would have to disable "Ctrl U" for Firefox as well as other browser controls.

Like I said, why bother!! You will end up making your site completely "Un" user friendly.

I've seen sites where, if you click "view source" a window pops up and says something like "My source code is protected."

I inquired about it on this forum perhaps a year or two ago and nobody knew how to do it.

I think Granda was asking why the source isn't showing what was expected, you could very well be viewing the source of a frame.

    Hi Marc,

I recall at least two websites that specifically protected their source code so that people couldn't view the info.

Unfortunately I don't remember the URL's, as it's been a couple of years since I looked at them.
