Color Printer Recommendations?

My last color printer died (RIP) so it's time to get a new one for the house. I want to spend ~$500. I need a laser printer that will do card stock paper and that can handle envelopes. Any suggestions?

Can't make a specific one Eric, but I have had good luck with 2 lexmark jet ink ones. They have been quite good and most importantly for me they have great customer service and actually answer the phones and get the problems solved. I would give them high marks as a printer company from my personal experience.

Thanks Gregg! I'm really looking for laser, but I'll check out what lexmark has to offer in that way.

I have a Samsung CLX-3160FN. It's capable of printing on 7mil, 80-lb stock, but I often need to babysit it. Not exactly a glowing endorsement, I know...I wish it handled thick paper better, but it can do the job with a little coaxing.

I paid $300 for it on ebay (refurb unit) and got 4 extra toner cartridges.

I bought an HP 4600dn off ebay that I have been using for a couple years. For the most part I am happy with it. Toner is expensive but you can get new toners for about $500 on ebay and I only go through a set every year or so. I like that it is fast and can do double sided printing.

I just looked and they have some refurbs for sale on ebay in the $200-$400 range but you will have to buy a set of toners to use it.

I recommend the HP Color LaserJet 2840. If you buy it in the store, it can run around $900 but I am sure you can pick one up on eBay for much less. The only draw back is the cost of ink and the drum!

I also have the 2840, but would not recommend it at all. Have had nothing but issues with it and wish I purchased something...anything other then this printer.

The HP 4600Dn is a commercial type color printer and is rated for like 80,000 pages per month. I haven't even done that many pages since I have owned it. I have also never even had a problem with it. It has been very reliable.
