    Default Questions about Page Footers

Is it normal that I can't see the contents of my Home Page page footer? Also, is it possible to include a snippet such as the one for my sitemap within my page footer? If so, shouldn't I just create a snippet for a page footer and then include that snippet in every page footer (in case I have to change it later, then it will be promulgated throughout my site)? Thanks.

Jolenta first wanted to say you are doing so much better than I was at this stage.

I really need to start spending some time on my LEC2 (still have a few things I'm working on for my current site) but the way that one works is that you create what you want on the footer on the home page and that transfers to to all the other pages. If you want something different on a particular page then you can place it in the footer of that page.

I'll try to spend a little time later tonight or tomorrow on the LEC2 and see if footers are handled differently, maybe one of the guys will come along and answer your questions as well. I think for now we may be the only "gals" with one of these sites.

Check out your page footer where you can change the links at #footer-navigation# . You can add your site map there if you want. You do not need to add it to every page.
Check out 182 where you can see I added it there.

Carolyn, thanks for the compliment. I have to say much of this is still Greek to me!

Would be cool if you only had to put the footer in the home page code to have it translate to all the other pages. But it sure isn't working that way on my site. Are you sure it really works that way? If so, I've got a bug on my site I guess I'll need to report.

Drew, how did you get your footer navigation to display in three columns instead of sequentially from top to bottom? Also, are you going to change your regular footer and plug yourself instead of REW?

Oops, nevermind Drew. Footer navigation automatically displays in three columns.

What is that piece of code called that displays this:

© Copyright 2008 Real Estate Webmasters.
    All Rights Reserved.

Shouldn't we be able to change that to our own info? REW has its logo at the bottom of the site already...

Jolenta, if you had a true custom site you would be able to choose whether to display REW's info but that is one of the stipulations of the LEC's that REW gets the credit back. This is typical to give a link/credit back to the designer. We don't have the code to change this. I've noticed that web designers IN GENERAL can be a bit sensitive over this issue so IMO just accept this and know it is done throughout the industry.

I wondered about that but thought for some reason their "credits" appeared elsewhere.

So next question: what do you have to ask them to do (or how much more do I have to spend?!) that takes the site to the next "level" where it is then deemed custom. I would be so happy if I could suppress that little tidbit of info better kept secret...

Not going to happen with this site. You have to remember that you got this for MUCH less than what it would have cost you to custom build something similar. (I'm trying to keep you out of trouble here). You do have the exclusive for the LEC2 for your area, so even if your competition sees it, they won't be able to get the same site.

Accept the fact that even if you didn't have REW's info/links on the site that someone who really wanted to find out who designed the site could find it in other ways.

I know you're feeling like you will be giving people a road map to REW but that will happen anyway.

If you had REW custom build something with all the features along the lines of LEC2, you might be looking at something with a $25-$30K price. The next level is left to your imagination. Or, you can contract to start for something for $10K but, by the time you are done, it may be 3X's that as you will want every trick thing you ever see on some other site!

Yeah, having the REW logo may be advertising, but just how many realtors that are in your area would even consider the price for the LEC2 if/when they take a look at your site? I would bet that most would not even put out for a template that costs over $59/month. Since most don't "get-it" when it comes to the internet, IMO you have little to worry about.

Get your site up and running so you can reap the results!
(edit: Agree with Carolyn about the road map. Put your name in G and I would bet you are already on the road map to REW)
