    Default Word Press help

I've started an outside wordpress blog (I know it's not like I don't have enough to do) and just looking for some resources to help me figure this out.

It is a self-hosted wordpress site and I'm getting tired of asking my friends really basic questions. Wondering if there are a couple of really good basic wordpress help sites out there. I've spent a little time on wordpress.org and youtube (how to videos). Anything else?

    Carolyn,

Don't hesitate to ask me a question. I can send you my instant messenger handle too if that helps, I spend a lot of time on the pc.

Sue thanks for that link, that is about the level I'm looking for right now. I see the back end of the server and it's so different from our REW websites and the public blogging spaces. FTP, plugins, widgets. I'm fighting learning code -- that's what REW is for right, but I want an outside blog that's on my own space.

Scott I may take you up on the instant messaging but first that would mean I would actually have to get an IM account. If I really need something I'll just send you lots of direct messages on twitter.
Right now my questions are so basic that I think I just need a few good resources, I'm sure I'll have plenty more questions down the line.

It doesn't get much better than this offer from Scott! Carolyn, you're very welcome for the link. Good luck with the word press, it can be a little confusing.

I know but he's one of the people I'm trying not to bug so much. I've figured out stuff here at REW by reading and asking a few questions, I can do it with WP as well, just need to be pointed in the right direction.

Heh, I'm actually doing things the exact opposite.

I've been using WP to run several sites for a long while now - and am getting ready to build my first REW site.

So, if you want to trade "stupid/newbie" questions back and forth, I'm up for it.

You can ask me stupid questions about WP.

I can ask you stupid questions about REW.

    How's that sound?

Jon that actually sounds great, although maybe not a fair trade, I think you will find it's an easier transition to REW. This could work though

I have a resource available for free on my membership site.

It was written for offline business people who are going online. The assumption is that they know little, if anything (like the folks I teach in my seminars LOL)

It was written with the idea that they could use WP as a regular site... and it 'splains about WP in simple terms.

It is called: Create an Effective Web Site YOU can Operate Yourself (even if you know NOTHING about the Internet). It is in the downloads section and listed as a Survival Course.

Among other things it explains the differences between plugins and widgets and stuff like that. It sounds like a lot of the information is more basic than you need/want but there may be useful info as well.

The link to the site is in my profile if you are interested. I have already mis-stepped here once and I don't want to make any more mistakes!

    Tink
