    Default Google maps changed?

Has anybody noted a change to Google maps? My website has pages for specific neighborhoods. It looks like the Google map highlights the region now.

    Here's an example: http://www.hawaiihomes1.com/Nuuanu.php

It seems like the maps just changed within the last couple of days.

    Thanks, Mike

Do you mean that it is defaulting to the satelite map or that the map scale seems to have increased? I don't have the maps on my pages like you do but my map search page has not changed.

No, there appears to be highlighting in the region where the homes are located. Maybe it's just a difference in lighting since they must be putting pieces together from many photos to create this large map.

I'm not seeing the highlighting, but I always thought that a Google Mashup of neighborhoods would be awesome.

How to do it? No clue, but still - I'd love it.

I see what you are talking about. It does not appear when I search in my area. My best guess would be it is where the maps come together.

If not, I am with Steve and would love to learn how to do it.

It's just a map snippet in the CMS. Determine the latitude and longitude and it will center where you want it.

To add listings on the map, choose the "subdivision" or "neighborhood" (depending on your CMS) to get the house icons to appear. If you want a sample snippet, send me a pm.

I was actually referencing how to do it if you do not subscribe to the REW CMS. What I'd like to see is an actual overlay (with a low opacity) that shows the outline of a neighborhood jurisdictions.

    Hmmm,

I imagine it can be done via printscreen and editing the map with Photoshop. It probably violates Google's TOS though.
