I was called by a few telemarketers recently on ESCO's. I have a friend who sells for Ambit and she loves it, but they are not servicing my area.

Well I did some research and its all very confusing AND unregulated. OK, so it was supposed to open the doors to competition and thus in turn, reduce our energy bills. Did it work? According to my research so far, NO! In every instance, the new non regulated company was equal to or higher than regulated Public Utility. What I don't get is that if I purchase the electric from one of these ESCO's companies, I don;t have to pay tax on their portion, but if I choose to stay with my current provider, I have to pay tax?

Humph, Same Product, delivered by the same method and one company has to charge sales tax and the other does not. Sounds like the phone company and the cable company.

So did you make a switch? Do you compare your rates on a monthly basis?
