Thread: footer navigation snippet

  1. #1

    Default footer navigation snippet

I want to have a footer similar to what Kathie is reffering to (the dark brown) in her post. (See thread
    http://www.realestatewebmasters.com/thread31103.html)

The snippet is called "footer navigation"

Will I be able to change and modify this "footer navigation" snippet the same way I can modify my featured area call out snippet?

Do you need to know what I want on this footer or can I customize once the snippet is done?

    Thanks,
    Adam

    Hi Adam,

I'm about to leave and won't be back until Monday the 29th, so I'd like to give some kind of response, here. However, please note that this is not a reliable final estimate. I'm going to ask Aaron to look in on this thread and verify the viability of my estimate.

We call it a "web 2.0 footer" (not sure why), and yes, you can manage its contents from a snippet.

This would take about 5 hrs design to implement on the site we're developing for you.

    Hello,

Yes - the "web 2.0 footer" can be edited via a snippet. The 15 mins programming required to complete this can be included in the design estimate.

    Thank you,

So would I add this snippet on each page or would I post it one spot that would put it on every page?
If I add it to each page then could it be different (customized) on each page?
Can you show me a couple of (template) sites that use this effectively?
How different is this from the featured area call out? It has 4 columns and FAC has 3, anything else?

    Thanks,

They add it so it is part of the code on every page. You can change the text and links to what you want via the snippet they create for you.

Yeah - if it shows in the footer area on all pages, then it's a "web 2.0 footer nav", whereas if you want it to have different content on each page, then it will be in the body content area and is more like the featured areas callout (number of columns is up to you - it doesn't depend on whether it's a footer nav or a callout box).

I'm not familiar with any templates that would serve as examples - but I think both are good ideas - the footer would link to pages that you want to be available from any page (links to the hottest areas, property types, search tools, promotions, etc), whereas a callout that is different on each page would be useful for linking to pages that relate to the current page (your Bradenton page would have links to Bradenton foreclosures, Bradenton condos, Bradenton community links, etc). Both of these ideas could be applied by adding links to the side-nav, or by creating links in the pages' bodies - but the callout/footer make it prettier, they keep it in the body (the footer is below the body, but this is still a fairly popular place for users' eyes to travel to when they're done with the page's other content), and they do it a bit faster.

So is this one snippet that I can use in iether place with a modification?

or ho0w many hours for both snippets?

They could not be controlled by the same snippet.

The featured areas callout (snippet-controlled styled div in body content) is estimated at $300 (you can specify how many columns you want - if you want headings over each column, the estimate may increase a little). -- Ah, I see you have one already - and you've already figured out that you can duplicate/edit the snippet for use on other pages, with different content.

For the web 2.0 footer, appearing on every page and snippet-controlled, it is 3 hours design and 15 min programming.
