Default Speed and # of listings per page

I had increased the number of listings displayed on each neighborhood page, up to about 15. Then I noticed how slow the transitions were between pages. I reduced the listings to 10 and now to 6.

What number works good for fellow REW-er's? I initially wanted more listings on each page to add text for search engines, but hate waiting for pages to change.

Take a look: www.hawaiihomes1 dot com

    thanks, Mike

I like 4 and use that for my area pages, seems like a good number and easy flow with the other content and does not make the page "too long" IMO. Not sure if that's the way to go but seems to work decent.

Are you sure it's not your huge images? http://www.hawaiihomes1.com/Kapolei.php for instance, has an image embedded in the page that is almost a meg.

    Hmmm,

Good point! I might reduce the CMA period down to six months for a neighborhood like this one and make the report shorter (and smaller file size).

    Thanks

Mike I think the slowdown is your map and not the cma. Could be wrong but the map loading time seems to slow these types of pages down.

Customers have given me good feedback about having the map. I guess I just need to keep the map size to a minimum - a tradeoff of usability and speed.

    Thanks, Mike

I think the maps are great - my guess would be they wouldn't need to be that great of quality - kind of like how users will put up with fuzzy video.
