Default ABOR FTP - RETS Conversion

Hello to our ABOR customers - as some of you already know there is a mandatory switch from the current FTP feed system to a new RETS system for all ABOR subscribers.

As per REW feed policy - customers will be billed the following:

New data feed processing: total hours for processing / number of clients (This cost is the same for every customer as it is split evenly)

    New data feed implementation
: This is "per" customer, and you must request and approve an estimate. Costs will vary as many of our customers have very custom IDX features that may or may not need to be adjusted based on the new data / feed.

I have pricing from the programming department for the "new data feed processing" - it will be 3 hours (or $300 USD) per customer - this fee is based on all current subscribers upgrading (which is mandatory) - however fees may vary should anyone not opt in (which is unlikely)

Please contact your sales rep (not me if I am not your sales rep) for the second part of your estimate (impemenation into your site once feed is ready)

Thanks for getting this quote to us REW. Who are the other REW customers? Maybe we can have a lunch meeting/introduction one of these days.

That is something other REW customers can choose to disclose if they wish - we cannot / will not post a complete client list for hopefully obvious reasons.

Do you have a time frame when this needs to be done?
What are the advantages/disadvantages of FTP vs. RETS feeds?

    Thanks,

    Hey Ronnie,
The deadline for switching is "end of February" that is as specific as they got. Advantages vs FTP ?

Ummmm well if you don't switch to RETS you will not longer have IDX because FTP is being discontinued so no IDX is a pretty big disadvantage.

This isn't an optional thing - either ABOR IDX customers switch to RETS or their lose IDX access altogether.

As for what is in (not in) the RETS feed vs the previous FTP feed - we haven't processed the RETS feed yet, so I don't know what the data difference is.

    Morgan,
I talked to Stan, Abor's IDX guy, and he told me that RETS will eliminate the need to compress data. Does this mean I can finally have big pics on my site like Trulia? (Sorry for using the bad guys as an example.)

Go ahead and take away my IDX. I'll just go over to AdvancedAccess and get a "real" website done up! I hear they are cheaper than you.

Yes - with the RETS feed we will have access to larger images for ABOR.

Ouch - I hope you are kidding (and think you are kidding) but if you aren't ouch - if you are, please clarify for those readers (who might be thinking of becoming customers) so that they don't actually think you were serious lol (These threads are public you know lol)

    Requested Clarification:

No, I'm not kidding. AdvancedAccess is cheaper! ...but you get what you pay for.

About taking away my IDX, I was totally joking (Sorry, I shoulda threw up a big J/K ... LOL**OMG*..don't be soo silly). I'll gladly pay $300 to upgrade to RETS. Sounds like it will open up more possibilities.

For those of you thinking of becoming REW customers, the extra investment you spend having Morgan and his team develop a site with a custom IDX solution will pay off in say, 1-2 transactions (unless you sell mobile homes in West Virginia).

The difference between the 2 companies is that with an REW site, you will receive emails and phone calls from targeted buyers and sellers (lead generation) that will assist you in recouping your investment quickly. From your 3rd closing on it's all profit. You can keep it all or choose to reinvestment a small portion and have REW improve your site even further.

REW: I use them and I love them!
