Default Delete user who provided bad email address?

Got a registrant today who provided a bad email address and no phone number. (Obviously a competitor scoping out my site, right?)

Should I automatically assume this person is not worth having registered on my site and if so, does deleting the lead from Lead Manager mean their login and password will no longer work?

    I wouldn't assume it is a competitor - perhaps a shy prospect.

Leave them on. If it is a competitor, just out market them!

This is an interesting dilemma we have wrestled with for several years. We know many local agents use our site for the ease of searching and we get a few invalid emails.

    What we do is this:

We have an autoresponder, so if an email is returned and there is no phone number, that lead is removed from the database.

There's no way to contact them so it's not helping the visitor or us to remain in the database.

Recently, I've been contemplating placing a disclaimer that all registrations must have a confirmed email address but as of yet have not followed through with it.

As for the local agents that use our site, I just let them. I guess they don't think we know who they are. Plus, I know of several agents that used our site in front of clients. We got the client

I always delete them. If I can't call you or email you, you're no good to me.

I'm in business of making money and if I can't get in touch with you, why should I allow you to use my site?

I spent way too much money, time and effort on building my site. I put my heart and soul into it and you provide a fake email? Hell no. You're outta here.

To anyone following this post, about one hour after I deleted this user she registered again! I can tell it's the same person because the email address is identical apart from one letter. The original email address could have had a typo or it could be that this person is playing games with me. In the meantime (before this person re-registered) I sent up "IDX Registration Form Auto Responder" and made it Active. I don't know if it's working or not but I'm sure it would be unwise to send an email to her new email address as a kind of test in case it results in her getting two emails.

Boy this stuff is tricky when you're learning. I can't wait 'till it feels more like auto-pilot!

Jolenta, it never goes on autopilot completely, but building a great system and sticking to it is the secret of lead conversion success. If you are just starting and would like some advice, feel free to contact me.

The first thing we try to do is figure out if the lead is an obvious typo. We have fixed a ton of them by seeing thier name spelled wrong or Yahoo spelled wrong. However if there is no error and no phone number then we delete them. I have always figured it was another Agent trying to figure us out or a buyer that has no desire to have us contact them.

My position exactly, which is why the Privacy Policy and TOS posted on my website is very explicit about this. I do have a standard template email I send if they: a) provide a bad phone number (phone# is a required field on my registration form) or b) say they are already have an agent (a question also on my registration form, and that requires a yes/no answer). I have posted that template email here previously, so won't repeat it again. If they provide a bogus email address, I can't send that email, so they just get deleted without notice.

    I didn't understand this part.

Right now I'm working on setting up my drip email campaign (I just finished customizing all the autoresponders that came with the LEC2). My templates module is not working but I'm hoping that I can set up a drip campaign using the document function instead. I'm just using "Hi {first_name}," and then each drip email has different text. The first campaign will last 28 days, have 10 parts and each one will be sent 3 days apart. I'll test it on myself for a few days before I go live with it.

If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears!

I delete all the leads that provide bad emails and no phone numbers. If they provide a bad phone number and a good email, I set them up on a drip.
