    Default Google Analytics

Has anybody used Google Analytics? Is it useful? Hard to set up? It is interesting to look at or does it give you actionable information?

I love Google Analytics. It's not hard to set up (paste a line of code onto your page) but the insight it gives you into user interaction with your website is remarkable.

Highly recommended but be prepared to read the tutorials/guides to get the most use out of it.

Yes, google analytics is definitely something worthwhile - I also like hittail as it gives slightly different information. Hittail used to be free but now there is a small monthly fee - analytics is free and gives you very valuable information about the people visiting your site. When you sign up for analytics also be sure to check google webmaster tools as well.

I agree! I find google analytics to be useful and informative. And very easy to set up you just need to add a line of code to your site.

I have used Analytics for a while now. Anyone had trouble correlating their numbers to your on-site stats program?

IMO Hittail is the best realtime data you can use to compare different marketing campaigns.

GA is easy to set up and very interesting if you are the analytical type.

    Eric,

Do you setup goals and conversions to contact forms with Google Analytics?

GA is invaluable if you set it up properly and use the features to the fullest extent.

It is very simple to create a monthly report that shows traffic, where it is coming from and how much of the traffic accomplishes what ever goal you want it to.

Online marketing is all about measuring and this free tool certainly helps you do just that.

One thing you should do when you set it up is remove yourself from the stats...

Google Analytics are a great way to help you view and collect invaluable data...although not every visitor is tracked...it's a good sample size to draw conclusions from.

Yes, you can measure the effectiveness of your marketing based on the increase in traffic to certain pages.

It's easy to use...although you need to have the ability to post the html code into each page you want tracked...some template sites don't give you that option.
