Thank you,
The links you post to facebook are not followed - so for google they would not pass on any authority.
Thanks - but I should do social bookmarking???
Social bookmarking of facebook pages? Can you explain more what you are looking to do? You can draw traffic from your facebook page to your site - that would be the purpose to me - just like posting listings to craigslist - those links aren't going to help you with SEO but might bring people to your site. Facebook to me is more about connections with people - you can create them with people in your community and not just friends from the past, depends on what you want to get out of it.
Carolyn,
Do you have experience with Face Book? Seems like a lot of work for little return IMO. I could be wrong..

Jason I think it depends on what you want out of it - you can build connections with community members - use it kind of like an online b2b - I have done some of that. I still mostly use my page to goof off, post family photos and videos - but I bet most people who I'm friends with on facebook know I sell real estate. My facebook page typically ranks #2 or 3 for my name, would rather people land there (they would have to be my friend to see more) than some spammy directory that has scraped my name from somewhere. If you're on facebook friend me up (for some reason that doesn't sound right) I would look for you but I don't know your last name.
LMAO!! Just read this... I will look for you. BTW- I am Dwell Atlanta on facebook.If you're on facebook friend me up (for some reason that doesn't sound right )

Dwell;
Another point about FB. It is a great tool to EASILY re-connect you with people from your past. (high school, college, past jobs, etc.)
The trick is to connect, but not waste time there. It can pay off pretty well. Especially if you live in or near your hometown.
We have several REALTORS in our office who have reconnected with people that they had lost track of, and some of them were ready to buy or sell.
@Granda - Carolyn is correct to my knowledge that they are no followed BUT build relationships...the links will follow. FB can be a time efficient tool for that, done correctly IMO.
Best

Keep in mind that the goal with all these social networking sites (Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) is to build relationships. I honestly feel that time spent there working in the SEO mindset is time wasted. If not wasted, you can surely spend it (time) elsewhere and get faster and better results.
My advice is to work to form great relationships with people you meet and drive them to your inner circles.

I can help you find houses for sale in Houston and also write at this blog dedicated to real estate technology for agents. I originally created this Houston Real Estate site and switched to REW - awesome decision.
