Differences Between Google & Yahoo

Since I put up my site 6 months ago, I've made decent progress in Google (on 2nd or 3rd page for many of my main keywords -- 1st page for a couple) but am doing very well on Yahoo (1st page for most of my keywords).

I know their algorithms are different, but can anyone give me a few key differences in how they come up with their SERPs? Whatever I'm doing is working better for me in Yahoo than in Google, and I'd like to take on the big G (still working on blogging and link-building, but that's the main thing I'm doing to affect my Google rankings).

I have the same results.... much higher rank in Yahoo. Not sure why, but I'd like to know as well..

The main difference of any merit is the weight G puts on links (and the kind of links) - it takes a lot more time for links to mature and the authority and diversity of links matter a lot more to Google.

You rank in Yahoo "first" because their standards are lower - not because you did something unique for them and there may be that something for Google as well.

Stay the course - keep building great unique content, participate in social networking and blogging and build up that diverse linking portfolio - prove to Google you are a true authority and the rest will fall in line.

Google tends to value social sites and blogs more than Yahoo.

Yahoo ranks sites with keywords in the url higher in my opinion.

Google also places more enphisis on quality relevant links, yahoo is more quantity over quality.

Google also values fresh content and sites that are getting linked to from current, relevant blog entries, for example.
