Default Is There Added Value in a REW Blog?

Being new to REW, I'm still just getting my feet wet, so bear with me.

I have a LEC2 with a blog built-in. Do you think there is value in also establishing an REW Blog, or would that just be a duplication?

What about getting an ActiveRain blog? Are more blogs better than few? Or should I just focus on a single blog and make it the best I can?

My understanding the duplicate content is bad, but more than one blog is not.

REW.com will likely have much more authority than your own website, but at the same time you want to help your own site too.

You should be blogging on both (here at REW) and at your own site - but the content MUST be different, we don't allow duplicate content to be posted here but also it makes sense that your content would be different as the audience (purpose) of the posts would be different.

I think the idea is to have all of your blog pointing to your main site. This will help direct the traffic as well as the search engines via links to your main site. And having a blog from an higher PR site with a link to your site is great for SEO. too, bad. I still can't figured out how to claim my REW blog.

PS. I have over 10 blogs on WP, blogger, hubpages, squidoo, weebly, and whomever else that let me start one. Many of these sites will not let you post the same content ( I think all of them wont), so it's a good idea to have a bunch of content laying around. For me I just PRL articles, but I rewrite them a little so they don't come up as dups. Hope this helps.

    Ann

Ps. there's a pack of plr RE/ mortgage content that you can get for $7 that's the one I'm using.

Value in an REW blog - heck yeah - Ron your first priority should be your onsite blog - but REW blogs are a great way to draw attention to specific pages of your site or blog about things that aren't really relevant to your local site.

I spent a lot of time on active rain - don't bother.

Gosh I thought I was doing well with my REW blog with over 23,000 unique views - Joe has a lot of great posts, wish he blogged here a little more often these days.

Nice Morgan. We blog all over the place and I've yet to hear ActiveRain mention "blogging on both."

Regarding value in a REW blog. Well, many of my posts will have 50 visitors within 12 hours after posting. That speaks volumes.

I need to step up and blog more here. This time of year I eat and breath skiing, so many things get put on hold. In fact, this time tomorrow I will be in the back country waking up in a snow cave!

I wish I could spend this time of year living and breathing skiing. Alas, I didn't have the foresight to invest in an REW website and blogging early on like so many of you did.

So while you all reap the benefits of being early-adopters of technology, here I sit, still working for a living. Ah, some day . . .

Is it a good idea to have more than one blog? Why or why not?

Argument #1: No, because you’ll be spreading yourself too thin. You’ll be spending twice as much time on maintenance, ad optimization, link-building, writing, etc.

Argument #2: Yes, because you can write about more than one subject. You’d get bored writing about the same thing every day.
Both are good points. You definitely don’t want to get bored with your blog’s topic, but it’s not a good idea to double your workload. If you’re a serious blogger, you could already be spending over three hours a day doing blog-related things. You don’t want to double that, do you?

What’s the solution? Take your pick:

Write for only one blog, and possibly get tired of writing on the same topic every day.

Guest post on blogs of other topics. Guest blogging has the added benefit of promoting your blog.
Write on Newsvine. Disadvantage: You’re mainly limited to news-type writing.

Find some more bloggers and start a collaborative blog on a different topic.

Start a tumbleblog. A tumbleblog (try Tumblr.com) is a mini-blog consisting of little text snippets, links, videos, and images. You can spend five minutes a day writing a random thought, and dedicate the rest of your time to your normal blog.

You could blog for NTugo. Just fill out the “Bloggers Wanted” form (available on any of the NTugo Blogs) and your request for a contributor account will be reviewed. Upon acceptance, you gain access to write on any of the NTugo Blogs.

The advantage here is that you don’t have to handle any of the blog management chores.

It’s a good idea to do some writing in other areas than you usually do, but how you do it is up to you. You could start another blog, or you could try one of the options above.
