    Default Google webmaster tools

I went into the verify my site in Google Webmaster Tools and it said that I am not verified. I went to the Tools and then the tracking codes and it is in there but they said it is still not verified. Can you help with this?

Hmm. It's there when you look at the source of your homepage. Are you sure the code is correct?

Sorry, I figured it out by the time you replied to me. All it good.

One other issue that I am having is with robot.txt file. Google Webmaster tools give it a 404 page not found. How do I fix this?

There is no robot.txt file on your site. Search engines always look for one, though, because that is where you would put the names of pages you don't want crawled.

Is that something that you guys have to put on my site? Or do I do figure it out myself?

You really don't have need of it. If you have pages you are still working on and don't want seen by the public or crawled, you can just hide them. The backend is not crawled.

In the backend, under CMS > Tools > Tracking Codes, there are input fields for Google Verification Meta Tag, Google Analytics, Bing Verification, Yahoo Key, HitTail Key.

There is spot for a HitTail Key on the backend of your site. It is on the same "tracking codes" page that your Google verification tag is on, at the bottom

I have pasted the meta tag into the box on the backend but I am still getting the message that the site is not verified?

    Hi Jay,

Do not post the whole meta tag into the box, only your user/account ID code. The meta tag will be created by the system and will insert the user/account code into the appropriate location automatically.
