    Default Hiring Ghost Writers

I'm curious, what is your opinion of hiring content writers or "ghost writers" to post on your site or blog? Where you would give them the subject and outline and they produce the content.

I've never done this myself, but I'm not sure I'm completely opposed to it either. Have you done this? What are your thoughts?

Well if you don't have time or talent to write, it may be well worth it. There are a lot of starving writers out there now and you can probably get the work done for a good price.

I've never paid, but know several who have

Some of them are very good. And you can have the article written spin ready, so that you can use the article on different sites and blog without the duplicate content penalty. More bang for the buck.

Funny that I just received a call from someone that has content that they would like to post on my blog in exchange for a link. I have never hired anyone to write blog posts for me, but I wouldn't be opposed to it if the content was pretty good and of course not duplicate.

Realspace, you sound like one of those whom prefer to write on your own? Why would you oppose to getting your own ghost writers? At one point or another you will need to hire them. When your business picks up you will need to attend to revenue generating tasks and leave the writings to other sources.

The web needs content and lots of it.

I am having some clients of mine write as "guest writers" but not "ghost writers".

I feel that having them speak about what they experienced first hand will help others know more about the process before they jump in.

I wouldn't hire ghost writers. Create a staff profile that you post the paid writers and post your own content under your own name.

Guest writers are the creme la de creme of all writers... especially when its from people you know personally. I love em...

Sorry guys, I asked this question and totally forgot about the thread

No I wouldn't necessarily say that I have a position either way. I think it depends on the need for the articles. Something like a newsletter to your clients or things of that nature probably would be a bad candidate for outsourcing the writing, but an article about how to get your home in good condition for a sale (something to post to article sites for backlinks, etc.), might be worth it.

Ultimately I was just curious for some ideas from others, wasn't necessarily taking a stance on the issue either way. Thanks for all the replies!

It's always best to have someone with firsthand experience about a service or business to write for you. They're more natural and believable.
