Business License Needed?

I live in Illinois and have a real estate brokers license. It has been a few years since I got licensed and I have not done anything with it aside from paying for the renewals and continuing education. I plan to eventually use the knowledge of real estate for my own investing so I dont necessarilly want to work under another broker or open up a brokerage. Am I able to be a family members (or my own) agent even though I do not have an actual brokerage? Do I even need a business license to be considered a brokerage?

Hello..

For doing the business any where at any place the license is compulsory to have for the existing business.. Without license you cant do the business, license is a basic and the primary need to do the business..

I would think that you need a brokerage to put the deals through and for tax purposes. Otherwise we would have a buch of brokers running around selling property with no company logo or anything.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I dont think you need one in Texas. You need a brokers license but I dont think you need a business license.

Its best to have an LLC for tax purposes. But once you pass the brokers test I think you can do business.
