I have started getting over 4,000 spam comments a day. What is going on and is there anyway to reduce this number. It is starting to truely take a meaningful amount of time to delete it.

Comments on your blog or comments where? Can you disable comments for a while? I bet its due to the high exposure you were telling us about.

I'd disable them or require approval.

I already require approval maybe I will disable them for a day or two and see what happens.

Do you have the/any spam plugin(s)?
Sure Askimet but I always use to catch a legit comment or two that landed there and so checked up on the ones marked as spam. Now with as many spam comments as I got I don't see a way to do it.
