Hey guys, I am thrilled to announce that Eric Blackwell friend and moderator here at REW will be teaching again this year. From the sounds of it Eric will be focusing on link building techniques for building true domain authority. This is a class that I think will be huge for everyone. There will likely be a lot of blogging tips thrown in there as well

From a personal standpoint: it changes the whole dynamic.

Instead of hanging out w/ friends and sharing - you have to put on your "formal hat speaking to the entire web" just in case it ends up getting posted on youtube.

One casual remark - could be taken completely out of context.



SAMPLE:
If a statement is made like: "SEO is a team sport." There will be a segment of persons out there that would see that, immediately jump on it and interpret that as meaning: Link Swaps 4TheWin.

When in reality: Its about creating relationships. Its impossible to watch everything thats going on out there - google algorithm changes, industry policies, etc. and still being able to find time to actually run your business.
If you make friends out there, they will cover your six so to speak, and you can cover theirs - with everyone keeping everyone else up to speed on the most current information that is available to help one another.

OK, I finally got a minute or two to rub together...been a busy week here.

First off...Morgan, thanks for the invite to teach (share) again. It is an honor to know you, my friend, and me speaking is hopefully a chance for me to give back in a small way for what I have picked up here at REW and from you personally. Simple as that.

Tony- Very cool.

Anne (and any others out there as well) - I would urge you to make the trip. The classes are great and you will be learning from people who spend their lives putting into practice what they talk about. Even if the classes were filmed, they would not capture what happens in the hallway and after class. The biggest takeaway from the last conference for me was getting to know and connect with people like CalZephyr (Tom) and Carolyn and to re-connect with 50 or so others who are at the top of their game.

Morgan captured what I wanted to present in a nutshell. let me see if I can add to it.

The premise is simple. (I guess... ;-) )

To succeed in the long term on the search engines, you need to build true and lasting authority, You need to build relationships that stand the test of time and learn writing and blogging techniques and skills that can generate those kinds of relationships.

To practice truly defensible authority building, we must not only connect with our colleagues (other REALTORS), but more importantly, our community (potential clients as well). We must win the respect and friendship of both and keep it.

Link building is one thing, but TRUE authority is built one brick at a time and lasts IMO. Google is all about relevance and there is no substitute (long term) for that.

After building a blog or adding one to your website, have you ever said. "Now how to I get people to link to me? How do I get them to comment? How do I even get them to read what I write?" That's what this class will be all about.

Content creation that builds true authority.

One thing that is great about the REW conference is that I feel very free to discuss exactly what I do to build authority over time and the best of what I have seen others do as well.

Ten specific techniques to move your online presence forward and your true online authority upward.

JK of course. This will be worth the trip for most of us. I think a tape is out of the question. What Eric will be talking about is the exact reason to make the trip....
