Results of dofollow links from REW forum

In a recent thread I wrote about making it to 300 posts. This post is about the results my sites experienced upon the dofollow activation.

1. My sites are index more often than before.
2. My sites experience less of the Google dance.
3. one of my sites got the nudge moving it from #2 to #1 ranking
4. My forum site went to page 1 on Google, current ranks 9th out of 10million sites for kw.

FYI: during this period I did very little link building from other sites. I saw the results and concluded that they were because of my post here.

Ann you also need to change your link in your sig to read correct and benefit as it reads Jacksonviile Refinance at the moment. Also your keywords on your forum are "PHP, MySQL, bulletin, board, free, open, source, smf, simple, machines, forum" you need to revise these as they are not doing you any good at all based on what your "product" is all about.

I am having the same problem. Congrats Ann on being bumped up to #1. It should mean a lot more traffic for you.

Markz- You are extremely helpful. Thanks for the heads up on the misspelling. As for the keywords I tried to fixed that when I first started using SMF, but it did not take. I will have to try it a different way. What I should have done was invest in a VB platform, which is what REW uses. Thanks again for taking the time to look at my sites.

Steve- I checked your sites out and they were in the the #20-35 range when I check for my data center. This was a couple of weeks ago. My sites have not disappeared from Google for a long time. I have only experienced the disappearance from Google when I made links from one of my sites to the another site I own, so that seem odd that you would just disappear from Google for no reason. Even when my sites was ranked in the 30s it did not disappear for no reason. You should check into that.

Scottie- The same goes for you as far as your site disappearing from Google

Google has seemed to downgrade forum signature links but you still see a small bump and the indexing is a huge part. If anything it helps build up the link portfolio of your website which brings more authority and higher ranking. Google is putting more emphasis on trust than just amount of high page-rank links.

Some personal observations about the value of REW posts and forum links over the long term, based on my own experience:

Even a high ranking sites and forums like REWs does not get every forum page or post indexed. And, over time, older posts and forum pages may decline in rank to supplemental or even be removed. So it is important to keep up your participation on an active basis, and have your posts and sig links occur in recent posts. That doesn't mean spamming, or just saying "welcome" to new forum members, but being a real contributor in a meaningful way.

I find myself attempting to do exactly what Ronnie mentions and for that reason I don't post as often as others. A good and bad thing at the same time. If I chime in on more it can help yet if what I have to say has been said previously, why do it?

I suppose I keep doing it as I have and focus more on client contacts than posting.
