How to install tracking codes?

For the blogs hosted here on the forums...I am trying to figure out how to Install Hittail, Google Analytics, etc.

For Google Analytics - in the blog "Seo Settings" it has a box for Google Map API Key - do I just add the code that starts with UA-###, etc?

With Hittail - when I create a new profile on Hittail then try to add in my blog url it will not accept it because it does not accept a url that ends with .com then has "/blog-name, etc. There is a box in the SEO Settings to add the Hittail code so I assume there is a way to do it.

However, yes that is the # you enter for google. I do not know about the other.

I wish I didn't opt for a wordpress dot com hosted blog now as I cannot use the plugins that I want and I can't even install the analytics tracking code. I find the built in stats to be very inaccurate and alsmot useless.

For Wordpress you can add the Google Analytics plug-in. Then cut and paste your UA number from your newly created Google Analytics account.

My post was in reference to the blogs hosted here at the forums but Scottie you can always transfer your WP .com blog to a .org and enjoy all the lovely benefits that the .com does not have.

If you decide to transfer your blog over from .com to .org for more flexibility, remember you will need hosting. Technically that is the best thing anyway.

You always want to have control over your content. Staying with the .com platform means wordpress is hosting you blog and could slam it if they ever decided to...not a good place to be in.

How hard is it to transfer? I looked at the .org platform and I read that I would have to build the site from scratch and upload all of the files. How would I pull these files from the .com platform to make the transfer?

Oh, it will be pretty easy if you have a decent host service. I use Hostgator and they are great. Once you sign up to them, you can request that they move all the files over from the old server to the new one...no pressure or work on you!

I am not sure what other hosting services will do for you.
