Default A Super Simple Lead Contact Manager For Free?

So I'm an independent designer that makes a lot of real estate websites. I have a salesguy that I'm going to "audition". He may not work out and I may go back to managing and calling leads myself (and using my software of choice Outlook with Business Contact Manager).

My salesguy doesn't have Outlook. He'll only be dealing with like 10-20 leads at any one time. The leads will be Realtors who are interested in purchasing a website.

All I really need is something for him to store info about each client (each phone call, notes about them, etc) and then be able to schedule an appointment to call them back and have it give him an automated reminder.

I'm talking stone age simple here, just something to keep him organized.

I thought about simply having him use Gmail, with filters to keep all emails to and from clients in one folder. Then using Google Calendar to schedule callbacks as it will send you an email and popup as a reminder. The only problem is that unlike Outlook with BCM, nothing is truly connected together. For example the appointments aren't truly linked to a client, so if he accidentally forgets to add an appointment, or accidentally deletes one, or calls the lead then forgets to reschedule the followup call, there's no real easy way to tell that. In Outlook you can just open the business contact and click on the history button and it shows you all linked tasks, appointments, etc.

Anybody have any idea of a simple, FREE, contact manager? I've seen some out there advertised as such, but thought I could save myself hours/days of research by just asking.

I have been experimenting with Google's Mail, Calendar and Task List to keep organized. As a basic, free and online Contact Management system I like it alot.
